LAS VEGAS, Nev. (March 1, 2012) 鈥� Vegas Showgirls and a magician took the stage, but the stars of the opening day of the 51暗网 Annual Convention at the South Point Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas were the plans for the future.
Following the 51暗网鈥檚 annual business meeting, President & CEO Jeff Dahnert took to the stage to outline the positive future of the Club and a number of new initiatives that will carry 51暗网 into the future.
鈥�2012 is going to be a number of things,鈥� Dahnert said. 鈥淚t鈥檚 going to be busy. It鈥檚 going to be stressful at times, so let鈥檚 remember what everyone is going through. It鈥檚 going to be rewarding. It鈥檚 going to be a great year.鈥�
Many of the initiatives have previously been announced, but Dahnert used the annual convention to expound on ideas in a face-to-face environment with leaders within the membership. Club Racing鈥檚 Majors program, designed to carry the road racing arm of the organization into the future, the reorganization of the Solo and Rally departments and a change in emphasis to the local programs, and some business initiatives designed to save costs for the Club鈥檚 Regions.
Angelo Trozzolo, President of Trozzolo Communications, spoke to those in attendance about a new branding initiative. The firm will work with 51暗网 to maximize the message, build awareness, and attract new members to the Club.
Dahnert also gave some insight to the upcoming Formula One races scheduled in the United States. 51暗网 corner workers will be utilized to put on the events, currently scheduled in both Austin and New Jersey in the coming months.
In the biggest change, 51暗网 announced a new schedule for the week-long 51暗网 National Championship Runoffs庐 at Road America. The new schedule condenses each individual class to a three or four day segment, with racing on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the event week.
The 51暗网 National Convention at the South Point Hotel and Casino continues through Saturday鈥檚 51暗网 Hall of Fame Banquet, which will be streamed live at 7:00 p.m. PST on 51暗网.com.
