TOPEKA, Kan. (Dec. 15, 2008) – The rapidly-growing 51°µÍø RallyCross program will hold 11 National Challenge events in 2009, including an East and West Championship. The season will be capped off with the third annual RallyCross National Championship. The 2009 RallyCross season begins much as 2008 did, with events at Stafford Speedway and Homestead Miami Speedway. The pair represent opposite extremes in course conditions, as the Jan. 10 – 11 event in Stafford, Conn., will likely involve snow, and the Homestead, Fla., event, held Feb. 21 – 22, will enjoy temperatures in the upper 70s. After taking the month of March off, the RallyCross National Challenge heads to the site of the 2008 National Championship. Located in Lebanon, Tenn., Nashville Superspeedway will welcome back RallyCrossers on April 26. June is a busy month, with three RallyCross National Challenge events scheduled. The first, on June 13, will take place at Summit Point Motorsports Park, in Summit Point, W.V. A week later, on June 20, Preble County Fair Grounds, in Eaton, Ohio, will play host. The last June event, scheduled for the 27 – 28, will be held at Washington County Fairgrounds, in Hillsboro, Ore. Corcoran Lions Park returns in 2009. Located just west of Minneapolis, Minn., the park will witness more dirt-flicking fun on Aug. 1. Though a precise date has not been determined at this time, Gateway International Raceway, in Madison, Ill., will host a RallyCross National Challenge event in September. The East and West Championships are also scheduled for September. National Trail Raceway, in Hebron, Ohio, will host the East Championship, Sept. 19 – 20. In a first for the RallyCross National Challenge, an amusement park will be the site of the West Championship. Knott’s Soak City Water Park, in Chula Vista, Calif., is the spot, and although a specific weekend has not been confirmed, the event will take place in September. An 11th event hosted by the Detroit Region is also expected to be announced shortly. The 2009 season comes to a close with the RallyCross National Championship. In its third year of existence, the event moves to its third new site: the US Truck Driving School in Fountain, Colo. The grand finale is slated for Oct. 9 – 11.
