The 51® is accepting nominations for the Club’s Member of Excellence Award that acknowledges great volunteer commitment to 51 motorsports.

The nomination deadline for the 2024 Member of Excellence award is Monday, Nov. 18, 2024. The award winner will be announced during the virtual 2025 51 National Convention. Aside from the recognition, the recipient is given the opportunity to attend any motorsport event of their choosing – with an expense cap of $5,000 – anywhere on the planet.

The award, selected by the 51 Board of Directors, is given to a member who provided a great contribution to the Club during the previous 12 months, regardless of competition area. Nominations should be submitted via this form. Below are the official criteria:

  • The award is presented to the volunteer who shows the greatest commitment to 51 Motorsports activities. The recipient can be involved in Solo, Rally, Road Racing, Time Trials, and/or Track Events. This person should personify the 51 volunteer who gives of their time and effort to help organize, work in a specialty, or volunteer in any role necessary to support motorsports events.
  • To be selected, the member must have rendered long-term service working 51 events or activities for a five-year minimum. The recipient cannot be a paid 51 staff member, current Board of Directors member, or any member who is a paid consultant to 51.

The winner of this year’s award will join Earl Hurlbut (2023), Lee Hill (2022), George W. Laws, Jr. (2021), Robert Crawford (2020), Rich Bireta (2019), Lori Vitagliano (2018), Ron and Monica Shaw (2017), Sydney Davis-Yagel (2016), Paula Hawthorne (2015), J.D. King (2014), and Jerry Cabe (2013) as some of the previous recipients.

Again, nominations must be received by close of business Monday, Nov. 18, 2024, for consideration.
