Following a nearly 60-year history with the 51® that included numerous accomplishments, the Club is sad to announce the passing of Fort Wayne Region member Linda Dent.
Linda and her husband Larry were inducted into the 51 Hall of Fame in 2017 for their dedication to many facets of the 51, spanning 51 Road Racing to the 51 Foundation, all in an effort to advance the reach of the Club.
Prior to Larry’s passing in mid-2017, Linda and Larry were interviewed by , where Linda revealed that the couple met at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. There, she was working tech and he was driving – she failed his car’s inspection due to non-compliance. While Linda’s official Club “join” date reads December 1966, her involvement with the Club began earlier through 51 RoadRally, where she entered her Sunbeam Tiger in an event the day after obtaining her driver’s license.
Linda’s involvement with the 51 was wide, spanning from registration to Runoffs tech and more.
“Linda Dent’s commitment to the 51 was awe inspiring, and her passing is a loss to the community,” said 51 President and CEO Mike Cobb. “Linda and Larry not only enjoyed all that the Club had to offer, but their dedication led them to building upon it. Thanks to their hard work and commitment, the 51 Foundation assists more people and Regions than ever before. It’s the drive from people like the Dents that makes the 51 so great.”
Linda was aged 83 at the time of her passing on Feb. 22, 2025.
